The mission of Habitat for Humanity (Yolo County) is "to build decent, affordable homes for families in need. Our goal is to eliminate poverty housing world-wide and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience." For this event we will be helping with the construction of homes for underprovilaged families. February 10, 2007 - "Time off for Caregivers" - Davis, 9:40am - 3:00pm
Spend a day with an elderly patient at the Davis Senior center. Help serve lunch and engage in activities with Alzheimer's patients to help give caretakers time off. Contact Angela by Thursday, February 1 for more details.
February 17, 2007 - Habitat for Humanity - Woodland, 8:45am - 4:00pm

February 22, 2007 - NAMI Mental Health Benefit - Davis, 5:00pm - 10:00pm
We are looking to help raise awareness about mental health issues by participating in this dinner that Golden Key has been a part of for the past few years. Contact Angela for more details.
March 3, 2007 - Yolo County Food Bank - Davis, 8:00am - 1:00pm
The Food Bank of Yolo County collects food for the needy from grocery stores, growers, distributors, etc. to ensure that families do not go hungry. Prepare and serve food at the Davis Farmer's Market to help the organization with publicity and fundraising in this great opportunity to bring awareness to the Davis community about this organization. March 13, 2007 - Davis Community Meals - Davis, 5:30pm - 9:30pm
Serve food to the needy in Davis. Approximately twelve volunteers are needed to help serve food and cleanup afterwards. Contact Angela by Wednesday, March 7 for more details.

Homework Club Tutoring at Valley Oak Elementary - Davis
An ongoing project this fall is tutoring at the homework club of Valley Oak Elementary, located here in Davis at 1400 E. Eighth Street. Volunteers can sign up for the following times:
Grades 4, 5, 6 with Leigh Scott in Room 15 - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday from 3:05-4:30pm.
Grades 1, 3 with Karen Naliboff in Room 6 - Tuesday or Thursday from 2:35-3:05pm.
Grade 2 with Roxanne Deutsch in Room 5 - Monday or Friday from 2:35-3:05pm

International Service Learning is asking for donations of new, unexpired items in unopened packaging including children's chewable vitamins, adult multi-vitamins, iron supplements, and over-the-counter supplies including: acetominophen, ibuprofen, aleve, motrin, antacid tablets (mylanta, maalox, pepcid), antihistamines, decongestants, antimicotic cream, neosporin, triple antibiotic cream, dramamine, benadryl, emetrol, cimetidine (200 mg tagamet), low potency cortisone cream, dimetapp, robitussin, eye drops, visine, ear medications, home pregnancy tests, home lipid and cholesterol tests, lice shampoo, kwell, azo standard, monostat, toothbrushes, and toothpaste.
We will collect them at the next Golden Key general meeting.

June 3, 2006 - NAMI Yolo Sunflower Art Contest / Spring Fling - Davis Art Center, Davis, 9:00am
Help hang about 200-250 pieces of art for the art show at the Davis Art Center. The event will begin at 9:00am and continue until finished. The mission of this program is to alleviate hunger and malnutrition in Yolo County. It is a produce stand on wheels that provides fresh produce and nutrition education free of charge to low-income families throughout Yolo County. You can meet Ann-Marie at the Food Bank and drive with her to the site - meaning you would need to be there 1/2 to an hour before the start time on the schedule. Or, you could meet her at the site with your own transportation. Golden Key will be helping NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) by setting up, serving dinner, coffee, and cookies, clearing tables, and cleaning up. About 15 people are wanted for the first half (5-7:30pm) and an additional 15 for the second half (7:30-10pm). The dinner will take place at Veteran's Hall on 14th Street in Davis. February 5, 2006 - Davis Stampede - Davis (Central Park), 6:15am - 11:30am:
Help in an annual Davis tradition! Responsibilities include participant registration and timing the athletes. Coffee, pastries, and t-shirts will be provided for volunteers. Contact Han-Cheng to sign up.
February 11-17, 2006 - "Have a Heart, Lend a Hand" 2006 UC Davis Week of Service - Davis, Various Times:
UC Davis's annual Week of Service, organized by the Human Corps community service office, is a week full of one-time volunteer opportunities designed to highlight community service in the Davis and Sacramento areas. Golden Key will be at the 2005 Heartbeat Run helping with the kids' race, handing out water to participants, and helping out at the start and finish line during the race. volunteers receive a free t-shirt! Contact Han-Cheng by October 9 to sign up and include your phone number and t-shirt size.
October 22, 2005 - Make A Difference Day (Planting Love for the Elderly) - Davis, 1:00pm:
Support Make a Difference Day by joining to help Golden Key. We will be visiting the Courtyard Health Care Center on 1850 E. Eighth Street in Davis and bringing potted plants for the elderly patients. Contact Han-Cheng or Nga H. to sign up.
October 31, 2005 - Trick or Treat for Cans - Davis, 6:00pm:

Help at the Yolo County Food Bank in Woodland with sorting cans and packing boxes and goods for local needy families. Contact Han-Cheng by Thursday Nov. 3 to sign up.
November 15-22, 2005 - ASUCD Canned Food Drive - UC Davis Campus:
Donation bins will be available on campus around the Memorial Union for donations of canned foods. Please spread the word to your friends, roommates, and other organizations.
November 19, 2005 - Davis Turkey Trot - Davis, 6:30am - 10:30am:
Help in the local Davis Turkey Trot! Golden Key will be either handing out water on the course, giving out T-shirts, or assisting with providing food to the runners. Contact Han-Cheng by Sunday Nov. 6 to sign up.
November 30, 2005 - Toy Drive - UC Davis Campus, 6:10pm:
We will be collecting new toys at the November 30 general meeting in Olson 106 to benefit foster youth in the Sacramento area. Donations are also welcome at the Induction Ceremony on November 19.
December 3, 2005 - Holiday Party for the Elderly - Davis, 2:00pm - 4:00pm:
Golden Key will be visiting the convalescent home that we previously visited for Make A Difference Day to throw the elderly a holiday party complete with bingo and entertainment. Contact Nga H. for more information or to sign up.
December 2005 - Gift Wrapping at Woodland County Fair Mall - Woodland:
The Yolo County Food Bank needs volunteers to help wrap presents for donations to benefit the Yolo County Food Bank. Dates and times available include Dec. 3 from 5-6pm or 6-7pm, Dec. 4 from 5-6pm or 6-7pm, and Dec. 10, 11, 17, 18 from 11am-7pm. Contact Han-Cheng to sign up.
